No path in life is straightforward - it is full of surprises. GFO is as diverse as these paths.
Despite our size, people and their unique stories are at the centre of everything we do. In our hospitals, elderly care centres, kindergartens, schools and hospices, we encounter moving life journeys every day - from healing and hope to farewells.
Our panellists share their real-life experiences. Join us on this emotional journey through the GFO network and very personal lifelines.
My name is Marcus Haefs, born in 1969, from Düsseldorf, a Fortuna fan and a big fan of The Clash.
I joined the GFO in March 2023 and work as a coach and integration manager for the international employees at the GFO Centre in Langenfeld. Before that, I worked as a copywriter in advertising and PR.
Apart from that, I was the stadium DJ for Fortuna Düsseldorf for 23 years and have had my own radio programme with music and various guests on the Düsseldorf station streamD for two years. I also sing in a punk rock band called "Dead Dates", which was the first German band ever to perform on the Caribbean island of Guadeloupe in 2024. Our record is very good, by the way.
I became a GFO podcaster through my experience as a radio presenter and singer. But it was actually my head of the organisation who suggested me. I really enjoy meeting different people from the GFO and talking to them.
The only thing that's always important is to have a confident demeanour with absolute cluelessness.
Or as Joe Strummer once said: The future is unwritten.
I'm Britta Ellerkamp and I've been working in Corporate Communications at GFO Klinik Brühl since 2015.
In 2017, GFO Klinik Brühl set the course for a monthly podcast. Why is that? Because we want to convey factual content in an understandable way. To do this, I meet with colleagues from different professional groups and talk to them about topics from the fields of health and social affairs.
I'm now looking forward to the Lebenslinien podcast, which I hope will be heard throughout the organisation.
Communication is my passion: I love finding out more about God and the world, getting to know people and their stories.
My work is a good opportunity to think outside the box.
Speaking of thinking outside the box: I ventured out of my home country into the Rhineland. I was born and grew up in Münsterland and studied and worked in Münster until 2003. Then I moved to Cologne. Admittedly, it was a bit of a culture shock at first - but I stayed. I now celebrate carnival and go hiking in the Bergisches Land region. You can't get any more Rhineland than that ...
Fancy listening to the team?

In this episode, your hosts Britta Ellerkamp and Marcus Haefs introduce themselves and chat a little about their lives.
The Rhinelander and the Westphalian talk about their passion for podcasts - and what makes the "Lebenslinien" format so special.
